Conversation Starters — spin the bottle, get talking
A friendly way to get any group talking, playable with nothing but a screen. Add everyone at the table, press spin, and the bottle stops pointing at one person — then a card flips up with an easy, open question for them to answer. Because the bottle chooses, nobody has to volunteer and nobody gets put on the spot. Every built-in question is family-friendly.
How it works
Add your players
Type in everyone at the table — two to twelve. They appear seated around it.
Spin the bottle
The bottle spins and slows to a stop on one person — chosen fairly, not by where it "looks" like it lands.
Read the question
Their card flips up with a conversation starter. They read it out and answer.
Let it flow
Everyone else chips in, then spin again when the conversation slows.
Why a bottle, not a wheel
Because the point is to include everyone. A spinning bottle passes the turn around the table, so quieter people get a natural, low-pressure prompt to speak and no one has to nominate themselves. A wheel would just be a list of names; the bottle makes it a game the whole group is part of.
And the question comes from a card that flips up after the bottle stops — so the prompts are never laid out in a ring to read ahead. The surprise is half the fun.
Where it comes in handy
Dinner tables
Turn a quiet meal into a proper conversation — great when a few people do not know each other well yet.
First dates
Skip the awkward silences with easy, open questions that let both people actually talk.
Classrooms & clubs
A gentle way to get a group sharing, with the bottle taking the pressure off choosing who speaks.
Road trips
Pass a phone around the car and keep the miles interesting with something better than "are we there yet".
Make it your own
The built-in questions are broad and easy on purpose, so anyone can answer them. But the best conversations come from prompts that fit the room.
Edit the list. Open the editor and paste your own questions — deeper ones for close friends, sillier ones for a party, subject-specific ones for a class. One per line, and please keep them friendly since anyone might be playing.
